Aurora’s Smoky Hill Road has reopened after a brief closure Saturday morning during an active police investigation.

The road was closed between South Biscay Circle and South Danube Street around 11 a.m., according to a post from the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office on X. The road reopened just before noon.

Officers arrested a 29-year-old man on suspicion of aggravated assault and possibly other charges, the sheriff’s office stated in a noon update.

Paramedics transported a 53-year-old woman to a local hospital in serious condition, the update stated.

Sheriff’s office deputies, Aurora police officers and crews from South Metro Fire Rescue were all on the scene, according to the post.
