Addressing an event organized by NCUI on the occasion of International Women’s Day, Bhavana Gondaliya, Chairperson of Amreli (Gujarat) based Bhagyalakshmi Mahila Credit and Consumer Cooperative Society explained how one of the training programs at the NCUI inspired her to form a cooperative society.

“I got the chance to become a participant in the Leadership Development Program organized by NCUI in 2013 with the efforts of Gujarat State Cooperative Union, which motivated me to form a cooperative society”, said Gondaliya.

She said, “The society which was established around 10 years back, has a turnover of Rs 125 crore. The society also has 87 consumer stores, which are run by the women”, she informed.

“We are making an effort in making women self-dependent and empowered. Our society has 7000 women members. We are helping them to improve their standard of living”, she remarked.

She was addressing women participants who had come to attend the event organized by NCUI on the occasion of International Women’s Day at its headquarters.
