The N.C. High School Athletic Association will host the regional and state championship in boys and girls basketball at Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum on March 11-16.

Specific games will be assigned to time slots soon. Assignments will be made based on the best accommodations for teams involved. However, the match ups are now set.

For the first time, the NCHSAA will hold a "Final Four" style event for the basketball regional championships and state championships. This means all regional championship games and state championship games will be played at a single neutral site over a six-day period.

The NCHSAA made this change in response to growing problems with regional venues. Last year, the NCHSAA was forced to apologize after people who purchased tickets to regional championships were unable to gain access because venues were over capacity.
