Food and Beverage Industry Projects for February 2024
The largest project will cost a cool $200 million.

In February 2024 there were 66 new projects planned for the North American food and beverage industry including facility expansions, new plant construction, significant equipment modernization projects, and plant closings, according to research firm SalesLeads. This falls flat from January, which also had 66 planned projects.
Out of the new projects, 45 were new processing facilities, and 23 were distribution and warehouses.

SalesLeads identified two new food and beverage facility construction projects in February with an estimated value of $100 million or more.
The largest project is owned by Nestle Purina Petcare, who is planning to invest $200 million for the expansion of their processing facility in Fort Dodge, IA.
Top 10 Tracked Food and Beverage Projects
FLORIDA
Publix supermarket is planning to invest $145 million for the renovation and equipment upgrades on a recently acquired 168,500-sq.-ft processing and warehouse facility in St. Johns. It is seeking approval for the project. Completion is slated for late 2026.
KANSAS
General Mills is planning for the construction of a 729,000-sq.-ft distribution center in Olathe. The company is currently seeking approval for the project. According to a Kansas news outlet, it will be for the company’s Blue Buffalo dog food.
KENTUCKY
Bosch Berries, a Netherlands-based grower and distributor of bell peppers, blackberries and strawberries, is planning to invest $50 million in the renovation and equipment upgrades on a recently acquired growing and processing facility in Somerset.
INDIANA
Scooter’s Coffee is planning for the construction of a 183,000-sq.-ft distribution center in Whitestown. The company has received approval for the project.
OHIO
Hillandale Farms is planning to invest $15 million for the construction of a warehouse in Akron. It is currently seeking approval for the project and will relocate regional operations upon completion.
ONTARIO
Burnbrae Farms, an egg producer, is planning for the construction of a 100,000-sq.-ft processing facility in Strathroy. The company is seeking approval for the project and will relocate their regional operations upon completion. Completion is expected in 2026.
NEVADA
Nutritional supplement ingredients supplier Hard Eight Nutrition (dba BulkSupplements.com) is planning to invest $7 million for the expansion of its processing and warehouse facility in Henderson by 92,000 sq. ft. It has received approval for the project.
WISCONSIN
Grocery retail chain Aldi is planning for the expansion of their distribution center in Oak Creek by 50,000 sq. ft. The company has received approval for the project.
TENNESSEE
Richardson Int’l, an oilseed processing company, is expanding and planning for the construction of a 22,000-sq.-ft processing facility at their processing complex in Memphis. The company has received approval for the project.
IOWA
Agricultural cooperative Nexus (formerly Viafield) is planning to invest $4.5 million for the expansion of their processing and storage facility in Elgin. It’s seeking approval for the project.
