Police and coroner's office working to notify next of kin
On Tuesday evening, a pedestrian was struck and killed in a hit-and-run accident on Highway 6 in Avon, near Stonebridge Drive. The Avon Police Department is investigating the incident as vehicular homicide.
The Avon Police Department is “conducting a very extensive and intensive investigation,” into the accident, said Avon Chief of Police Greg Daly.
Avon police are “looking at every avenue of possible information that we could get for vehicles that were traveling in that area,” Daly said.
As of 4 p.m. on March 6, the victim has not been officially identified. The Avon Police Department has made a tentative identification using information that was on the body.
The identifying information, combined with the absence of a missing persons report, indicated that the person “may have been visiting the area,” Daly said.
