The Golden Eagles join FC Goa in national round with two games in hand

Utorda/Guirim: Dempo SC produced a phenomenal performance to defeat Pax of Nagoa 4-0, securing their spot in the Reliance Foundation Development League U-21 final round at the SAG ground, Utorda on Wednesday, while FC Goa produced a similar standout performance over Sporting Clube de Goa at Guirim.

Meuton Fernandes opened the scoring in the 10th minute for Dempo with a touch of fortune. Chinkhoisam Dimngel played him in, and Meuton’s well-struck shot cannoned off the woodwork, only to bounce in and pop back out, but was flagged as a goal thanks to the linesman who was keeping a watchful eye.

Dempo doubled their lead just before half-time through Dimngel.

Jordan Borges whipped in a dangerous cross, and Meuton cleverly flicked it on to Dimngel, who made no mistake from close range.

The second half continued in the same vein, with Aaron Bareto adding a brace to seal the victory for Dempo. In the 75th minute, Arnold Oliveira’s cross was initially cleared by the Nagoa defense, but the ball fell kindly for Bareto, whose first attempt was saved, but he followed up to convert the rebound with ease.

Bareto completed his brace in the 90th minute, showing his composure to lob the ball over the advancing goalkeeper and put the icing on the cake for Dempo.

Sitroy Carvalho opened the scoring in the 19th minute, while Lalathanliana doubled the lead just after the hour mark.

Further goals from Bryson Pereira and Lukson Rebelo sealed the win for the young Gaurs.
