The Indo Daily: Why Kinahan lieutenant Sean McGovern could soon be extradited back to Ireland

If Sean McGovern is extradited back to Ireland, could Daniel Kinahan be next?

Dubai is known as the playground of the rich and famous, with its expensive cars and towering skyscrapers. But it is also known as a safe haven for international criminals, much to the frustration of authorities around the world.

One gangster hiding out there is Sean McGovern, the right-hand man of Daniel Kinahan.

Despite the issuing of a European arrest warrant for McGovern in April 2022, he has remained at the centre of the Kinahan drug operation.

But that could all be about to change, with Garda Commissioner Drew Harris saying there is a “real prospect” of the Kinahan lieutenant being extradited back to Ireland to face a murder charge.

Today on the Indo Daily, Tabitha Monahan is joined by Niall Donald, Deputy Editor of the Sunday World, to look at the life and crimes of Sean McGovern, and ask if the net is finally closing in on the Kinahan cartel.
