Stock market update: Nifty Bank index falls 0.27%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Bank index closed on a negative note on Thursday.

Shares of Au Small Finance Bank Ltd.(up 0.79 per cent), IndusInd Bank Ltd.(up 0.6 per cent), State Bank of India(up 0.53 per cent), HDFC Bank Ltd.(up 0.25 per cent) and Bandhan Bank Ltd.(up 0.08 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, IDFC First Bank Ltd.(down 1.23 per cent), Axis Bank Ltd.(down 1.21 per cent), ICICI Bank Ltd.(down 0.84 per cent), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd.(down 0.67 per cent) and Federal Bank Ltd.(down 0.58 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty Bank index closed 0.27 per cent down at 47835.8.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 19.5 points at 22493.55, while the BSE Sensex stood up 33.4 points at 74119.39.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 30 ended in the green, while 20 closed in the red.

Shares of Infibeam Avenues, Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Tata Steel and Tata Power were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Chemfab Alkalis, Rallis India, Tata Chemicals, Tata Power and Kalpataru Power hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Indiabulls Intgrtd, Sanco Industries, Compuage Infocom, Vaxtex Cotfab and Stampede Cap(DVR)hit their fresh 52-week lows.
