SS Dempo dominate GDC; Khandola pip PG Goa University

Taleigao: Day 13 of the Goa University Inter Collegiate Cricket Men’s Championship saw contrasting results, with S.S. Dempo College crushing Goa Dental College and Government College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Khandola edging past PG Goa University in a close finish.

SS Dempo College of Commerce and Economics, Cujira, secured a compelling 10-wicket victory over Goa Dental College and Hospital. Goa Dental, electing to bat first, could only manage 81 runs. Atharva Naik top-scored with a 29-ball 21. SS Dempo’s bowling attack shone, with Mihir Gawde, Yash Manjrekar, and Gauresh Bandal claiming two wickets each.

In reply, SS Dempo chased down the target comfortably without losing a wicket. Devanshu Mangeuskar’s blistering 52 off just 20 and Sameer Panparoshan’s steady 21 sealed the win for SS Dempo.

Meanwhile, Government College Khandola, edged past PG Goa University by a run in a nail-biter of a game. Khandola, choosing to bat first, posted a score of 169 runs in 19.4 overs. Shardul Shet and Saish Gaude were the crucial with the bat.

Goa University, in response, fell short by a solitary run despite a century by Anand Tendulkar. Abdul Mashal, Khandola’s bowling hero, picked up 2 wickets for 20 runs, including a crucial wicket in the final over to secure victory.
