Five different girls scored as Hoggard girls soccer rolled past Cleveland with ease on Thursday evening.

The Vikings jumped out to a five goal lead in the first half and never looked back. The 8-1 final improved their record to 4-0 this season.

Ellis Kelly’s speed set the tone.

Eight minutes in, Carlie Moroz snuck a ball through the Rams defense and let the Memphis commit take care of the rest.

The 1-on-1 finish gave Hoggard a quick 1-0 lead.

In the 21st minute, Kelly found herself in a familiar position. All alone with the keeper, she tucked in her second of the night for a 2-0 advantage.

Chaylen Hines kept the momentum going with back-to-back goals to inflate the lead to four.

Hines settled and ripped one just under the bar for her first, then had nothing but clear air ahead of her when Kelly drew the goalie off the line on a 2-on-1 opportunity and dished it over for the finish.

With just over a minute remaining in the first half, Kelly banged in a loose ball off of a corner kick to send Hoggard into the break up 5-0.

To start the second, Kelly got the ball with space and drew the attention of the Cleveland defense enough to find Jordan Devoid for her first of the game.

After nearly cashing in on a handful of shots earlier in the match, Avery Fisher was finally rewarded in the 51st minute with a long strike that found the back of the cage.

Leading 7-0, freshman Brielle Archer took her turn muscling through the defense and carving out enough space to score.

Cleveland picked up its lone goal with six minutes left when Grace Keighley broke the ice with her sixth of the season.

Hoggard, who has now outscored its opponents 25-3 this season, gets a week off before heading to Ardrey Kell to take on the defending 4A state champions.

Now 2-1-1, Cleveland heads east to Wilson on Saturday to battle Apex Friendship at the The Brittany Willis Memorial Scholarship Soccer Showcase.
