Panaji: In illegal structures case, Anjuna panchayat, through an affidavit, told the High Court of Bombay at Goa that out of 175 structures, 144 have been inspected and that 115 premises are sealed and 31 are remaining.

The affidavit has been filed by secretary of the Anjuna panchayat Jitendra Naik. He has also mentioned in the declaration submitted before the court that he is suffering from a heart ailment since 2010 and has undergone angiography twice and that he has high blood pressure, and hence advised to avoid stress. Taking cognisance of the statement, the High Court requested Advocate General Devidas Pangam to see whether an additional secretary could be deputed to the panchayat.

The Advocate General stated that he will look into the matter and inform the High Court about the decision in the next week.

A counsel for the panchayat stated that within the next 3-4 days sealing of remaining structures would be completed.

Earlier, the High Court had said, “By order dated February 13, it is clear that we had issued directions for sealing structures undertaking commercial activities despite the fact that they did not have the requisite permissions, clearances, and NOCs from various authorities. The object of the order was not to seal any residential premises that were not used for commercial purposes.”
