When Microsoft announced Windows 11, one of the most interesting features of the operating system was that it could run Android applications, thanks to the integration of Windows Subsystem for Android (WSA), allowing you to enjoy a wider selection of apps on your Galaxy Book and use the same apps on it that you use on your Galaxy phone/tablet. Along with it, the company also collaborated with Amazon to offer Amazon Appstore on the OS, a marketplace from where you can find and download Android apps on Windows 11. Unfortunately, today we have some disappointing news on the matter.

Microsoft has announced that it will be ending support for Windows Subsystem for Android (WSA) beginning 5 March 2025. Without WSA, Windows 11 will not be able to run Android applications. As such, the company is also ending support for Amazon Appstore on the operating system from that date. In other words, from 5 March 2025, you will not be able to download the Amazon Appstore from the Microsoft Store, Android apps from Amazon’s marketplace, or run Android apps on the OS. if you have already downloaded Amazon Appstore and Android apps on your PC, those will keep working till 5 March 2025.

Currently, there’s no information as to why Microsoft has taken this step. Maybe the company didn’t see many people using Android applications on Windows 11. Whatever the case, the latest news is quite disappointing for people who use Android apps on their Windows 11-powered Galaxy Book. Fortunately, there are still other ways to run Android apps on your Galaxy Book, including using Microsoft Your Phone and Samsung DeX.
