Who doesn't have AirPods yet? Not to sound like a dickhead, but come on. AirPods are far and away the pieces of tech I see most in my day-to-day life. They're certainly the most popular headphones of the past half-decade. They released when I was in college, and within a year, the original AirPods were a campus status symbol. By the time I graduated, the real campus tastemakers had moved on to AirPods Pro and AirPods Max. Now, in New York city, every time I get on the train, I can count at least 10 pairs of AirPods. They're ubiquitous.
That said, I still rock wired Apple headphones. (Apparently they're called EarPods.) I had some AirPods, lost them, and never wanted to spend the money to get them back. I've been awarding Apple in our Esquire Gadget Awards. I've been reviewing the brand's latest and greatest. I know better than anyone how good these products are. And, you know what? I'm still too stingy to buy them at retail price. My EarPods are chugging along just fine.
But, reader, we've got some deals right now. Deals so good, even I might bite. Original AirPods for $99 are what I'm eyeing, but if you've got the bread, I'd steer you towards the AirPods Max. Over-ear headphones are a bit much for me in day-to-day life, but I test all the new models. The AirPods Max are second to none. If you've been looking to score a steal, these three AirPods deals are what you need.
Apple AirPods Max
Some people have turned their nose up at the AirPods Max, because they're a bit influencer-y. They look so good that they're a fashion accessory not just in metropolitan coffee shops, but all over your Instagram explore page. But, little by little, I've seen people adopt them. Kids my age and my parents friends are all walking around with these things.
But! There's good reason for that. We've talked about it before. These headphones are insanely popular for a reason. They're sturdy, sound amazing, and (like I said) look great. If you've been on the fence about buying, maybe 13 percent off will entice you. That's as big of a discount as you're likely to find on these, ever.
Apple AirPods - 2nd Gen
They're second generation, but these are almost exactly the same as the original AirPods. If it ain't broke!
The sound is solid, the fit is nice, and they look good. They don't have noise cancelling, but with earbuds, I don't consider that a negative. Noise cancelling is meant for headphones, in my opinion. They also don't have a wireless charging case. That's a little annoying, but you still have a lighting cable sitting around, I'm sure. Plus, for $100, you simply will not find a better pair of earbuds.
Apple AirPods - 3rd Gen
The jump from first-gen AirPods to second-gen AirPods wasn't that crazy. This jump to third-gen is where things got significant. Apple gave upgrades to the driver and amplifier for music that sounds clearer and bigger. They introduced adaptive EQ that tailors the sound to you, as well as spatial audio to make the sound feel more real.
There's still no noise cancelling for those that prefer it that way (me!). These aren't on super deep discount, but it's better than nothing.
