All Driftwood locations in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth

As you make your way through Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, you’re sure to discover that there are a wide variety of sidequests to undertake. One of these in the Junon region tasks you with tracking down and eventually working with a Wainright. This fellow asks you to fetch him some materials to aid in a job — Driftwood to be specific — and then sends you off with a map that may or may not look a bit confusing. Don’t worry, though — you won’t need his shoddy map when you use our guide below.

All Driftwood locations

To obtain the piece of Driftwood at each spot on the map, wait until your chocobo has a question mark above its head, then hold Up on the D-pad until the location is revealed. Ride your chocobo over to the revealed location and press Down on the D-Pad to dig up the Driftwood.

There are three pieces of Driftwood you need to find if you’d like to get a 3-star rating in the quest, which is worth doing since it will earn you extra rewards. When you’re ready to track down all three pieces, you can take a look at the photos below for the exact locations.

Driftwood No. 1

The first piece of Driftwood can be found in the northernmost area of the region.

PSA: Don’t burn yourself out on Final Fantasy VII Rebirth’s open-world activities
Cloud from FFVII

I'm normally a completionist when it comes to games, but I wish I had told myself to push that mindset to the side before I started Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.

I get the desire to do it all, I really do. In the critically acclaimed sequel, we're finally let loose outside of Midgar. Square Enix has laid a huge, lush set of biomes to stretch our legs in after being stuck in the cramped hallways and tunnels of the drab city. Despite most of the world activities in Rebirth being standard open-world fare (activating towers, scanning points of interest, and hunting down specific monsters), there's an undeniable novelty to doing it with Cloud and the rest of Avalanche. What I wish I had known before starting was just how easy it was to burn out on that feeling.

The best accessories in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth
Tifa and Aerith

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is filled with baddies to take out, so you'll need to be as prepared as possible when it's time to face off against them. As such, you'll be updating your equipment frequently throughout your adventure to apply upgraded pieces of gear. In addition to weapons and bangles, you can equip each character with a single accessory to customize their skill set in battle, and it's worth swapping these out occasionally depending on the upcoming fight.

Though the best accessory for each character will largely depend on how you've built them and what role you have them playing in your party, there are still some accessories that we feel are generally useful and tend to be worth keeping around to make battles go more smoothly.

How to get Zinc Ore in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth
Cloud flies on a Chocobo in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.

After breaking out of the confined spaces of Midgar in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, a lot of new opportunities and mechanics have been introduced. Along with some standard open-world activities, collecting tons of resources as you travel will be a constant. Icons for all sorts of rocks, plants, and beast parts are needed to transmute new items. Zinc Ore is no different, but it is required for some great accessories you probably want to make early. If you need this precious rock but don't know where to start looking, hop on your chocobo, and we'll lead you right to it.
Where to find zinc ore

Zinc Ore can only be found in the mid- to late-game regions. These include the Corel and Gongaga regions, Cosmo Canyon, Nibel region, and the Meridian Ocean. The most plentiful location we've found the ore is in Corel, and most often on Mount Corel itself. Ride your chocobo here and pay attention when it notices something hidden. Sniff it out, and there's a decent chance you will find some Zinc Ore, but it also appears as normal pickups in the environment. There's also a chance that enemies will drop this resource after battle, so don't skip by them when searching. Unfortunately, all items in an area appear to be randomized, so you can't count on finding Zinc Ore every time, even in the same spots, but this is by far the best place to go.
