The Endometriosis Association of Ireland states that approximately 155,000 women in Ireland are affected by endometriosis.

Endometriosis is a chronic inflammatory disease whereby tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows elsewhere in the body. This results in symptoms including painful menstruation, pelvic pain, pain during intercourse, bowel and bladder issues, pain during ovulation, fatigue, joint pain and inflammation, and potential infertility.
