Stock market update: Mining stocks down as market rises

NEW DELHI: Mining shares closed higher in the Wednesday's session.

20 Microns Ltd.(up 8.40%), Lexus Granito(India)Ltd.(up 7.08%), Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation Ltd.(up 0.56%) and Coal India Ltd.(up 0.21%) stood among the top gainers.

Madhav Marbles & Granites Ltd.(down 4.92%), Aro Granite Industries Ltd.(down 4.72%), Pokarna Ltd.(down 4.24%), MOIL Ltd.(down 2.96%), KIOCL Ltd.(down 2.66%), Oriental Trimex Ltd.(down 2.37%), Ashapura Minechem Ltd.(down 2.12%), The Orissa Minerals Development Company Ltd.(down 1.72%), Sandur Manganese & Iron Ores Ltd.(down 1.37%) and NMDC Ltd.(down 0.71%) were among the top losers of the day.

The NSE Nifty50 index ended 117.75 points up at 22474.05, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed up 408.86 points at 74085.99.

Bajaj Auto Ltd.(up 3.05%), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd.(up 2.57%), Axis Bank Ltd.(up 2.2%), Bharti Airtel Ltd.(up 2.13%), SBI Life Insurance Company Ltd.(up 1.96%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd.(up 1.9%), Divi's Laboratories Ltd.(up 1.73%), Tata Consumer Products Ltd.(up 1.63%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.(up 1.62%) and Titan Company Ltd.(up 1.6%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Adani Enterprises Ltd.(down 2.31%), UltraTech Cement Ltd.(down 2.01%), NTPC Ltd.(down 1.76%), Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd.(down 1.24%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd.(down 1.05%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd.(down 1.01%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd.(down 0.89%), JSW Steel Ltd.(down 0.79%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd.(down 0.45%) and Tata Motors Ltd.(down 0.42%) closed in the red.
