While Amazon and B&H Photo have the best prices at the moment, one benefit to paying full price and buying from Apple is that you can customize the machine, adding more RAM or a higher-capacity solid-state drive. The models sold by Amazon and other retailers have fixed configurations.
Want to go the refurbished route? You can find refurbished MacBooks on Apple's Certified Refurbished Mac page. Refurb inventory changes rapidly, so you may not always see the latest MacBook Air or Pro. However, it's worth keeping an eye out because you can lock in substantial savings.
It's also worth noting that the Apple Store offers students an educational discount, which can trim hundreds of dollars from the price of a new laptop or tablet.

You can grab the M1 MacBook Air 256GB in any color from Amazon for $750, which is $249 off and matches the all-time low we've seen. The discount is currently available for both silver and space gray, but if you want gold there is currently an on-page coupon that will bring the price down to $750 for that variant, too. Just be sure to clip the coupon before checking out.
You can now pick up the base-model M2 MacBook Air for just $949 in your choice of four colors with additional savings of up to $825 available if you trade in your old laptop.
The new MacBook Air features a 15.3-inch display powered by Apple's M2 chip and 8GB of RAM. It also has a Touch ID sensor, two USB-C/Thunderbolt ports, a MagSafe charger and 18 hours of battery life. You can grab it from Best Buy for $999 and there's even trade-in credit worth $825.
The 13-inch MacBook Pro M2 13-inch is plenty fast and boasts up to 20 hours of battery life, and right now you can nab the 512 GB configuration for $400 less.
The baseline model of the 14-inch MacBook Pro normally costs $1,999 but you can get yours for just $1,900 today. The laptop features Apple's M2 Pro processor (10-core CPU and 16-core GPU), 16GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD.
The baseline model of the new 16-inch MacBook Pro features Apple's powerful M2 Pro processor (12-core CPU and 19-core GPU), 16GB of RAM and a 512GB solid-state drive. But with the M3 now available, finding an M2 Pro version in stock is currently impossible.
The long-awaited M3 MacBook Pro is here, and you can pick one up with a reasonable discount, albeit not the best that we've seen to date. The prices of these machines fluctuate wildly right now, but this is the best available at the time this is published.
