The year 2022 was a big year for the auxiliary of the Lower Middlesex Volunteer Fire Department (LMVFD), when it raised and donated $30,000 to the fire department in Deltaville. It was their largest annual donation ever.

Well, 2023 was even bigger and the auxiliary raised $35,000 to help support the fire department, said LMVFD Auxiliary President Bonnie Armentrout.

“I am so very proud of this group of (the auxiliary) women and men,” Armentrout told the audience during a ceremony for the auxiliary and fire department at the Deltaville firehouse on Jan. 27. “We could not achieve what we do without the support from our husbands and friends. They may not attend our monthly meetings but they are very much a part of the auxiliary.”

The auxiliary’s biggest job is to assist financially, said Armentrout, who summarized some of the auxiliary’s fundraising events and amounts raised, including nearly $15,000 with the “flamingo flocking.” “They will return!”

“We worked hard and played hard and again had a very successful year,” said Armentrout. “Therefore we are so very proud to present our largest donation ever for $35,000!”

Armentrout also thanked the LMVFD for its recent response. “Those of us who live in Chick Cove want to express our sincere thanks for your outstanding work in saving our neighbor’s home recently. They suffered a lot of damage but no one was hurt and they will be able to restore their home and have expressed their gratitude.”
