Contest underway to spot first Sandhill Crane

Eli Pace/Steamboat Pilot & Today
The Colorado Crane Conservation Coalition is hosting its 2024 First Crane Sighting Contest as part of Greater Sandhill Crane Week from March 1-8.
Be the first to spot a Sandhill Crane in the Yampa Valley and document the sighting with a photo or video for a chance to win.
Evidence of sightings should be emailed to info@coloradocranes.org. Submissions must include the contest participant’s name and mailing address, and the date, time and location of the sighting.
Prizes will be awarded to each individual with the photo or video of the earliest sighting in West Routt, North Routt, South Routt, Steamboat Springs, Craig and West Moffat.
A grand prize will be awarded for the overall earliest sighting in the entire Yampa Valley. Winners will be notified in April.
For additional information and rules, visit coloradocranes.org.
