Man charged with murder from Hoke County double shooting

Hoke County deputies have charged a man with murder from a fatal shooting on Monday night.

Deputies responded to the 300 block of John Brown Road in Raeford after learning about the shooting. They found someone unresponsive around 10:15 p.m.

Authorities discovered that Jerome Johnson had shot the person, according to a release. Johnson, 70, was taken into custody.

Another person was found to have been shot and both were taken to the hospital, where one person died from their injuries.

Johnson was charged with felony first-degree murder and felony assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury. The investigation is ongoing.
