Stock market update: Sugar stocks down as market falls

NEW DELHI: Sugar stocks were trading lower on Tuesday at 10:04AM

Uttam Sugar Mills Ltd.(up 1.56%), DCM Shriram Industries Ltd.(up 0.93%), Bannari Amman Sugars Ltd.(up 0.54%), Dalmia Bharat Sugar and Industries Ltd.(up 0.32%) and EID Parry(India)Ltd.(up 0.03%) were among the top gainers.

Simbhaoli Sugars Ltd.(down 3.16%), Sakthi Sugars Ltd.(down 1.78%), Ugar Sugar Works Ltd.(down 1.56%), Kothari Sugars & Chemicals Ltd.(down 1.45%), Bajaj Hindusthan Sugar Ltd.(down 1.43%), KCP Sugar & Industries Corporation Ltd.(down 1.29%), Mawana Sugars Ltd.(down 1.15%), Rajshree Sugars & Chemicals Ltd.(down 1.08%), Avadh Sugar & Energy Ltd.(down 1.07%) and Rana Sugars Ltd.(down 1.05%) were among the top losers.

The NSE Nifty50 index was trading 71.05 points down at 22334.55, while the 30-share BSE Sensex was down 272.54 points at 73599.75 at around 10:04AM.

Tata Motors Ltd.(up 7.24%), UPL Ltd.(up 2.15%), Bajaj Auto Ltd.(up 2.15%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.(up 1.6%), State Bank of India(up 1.03%), Bharti Airtel Ltd.(up 0.75%), Coal India Ltd.(up 0.59%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd.(up 0.53%), NTPC Ltd.(up 0.53%) and Eicher Motors Ltd.(up 0.42%) were among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Infosys Ltd.(down 1.72%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd.(down 1.56%), HCL Technologies Ltd.(down 1.53%), LTIMindtree Ltd.(down 1.48%), Tech Mahindra Ltd.(down 1.14%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd.(down 0.99%), Reliance Industries Ltd.(down 0.91%), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd.(down 0.79%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd.(down 0.78%) and ICICI Bank Ltd.(down 0.77%) were trading in the red.
