The cameras were on John O’Shea as he entered the Aviva Stadium press conference room, but it soon became apparent that the questions were going to be preceded by a statement.
Before O’Shea could be asked if he had plans to put himself in the picture to be the next Ireland manager, Director of Football Marc Canham delivered a declaration that appeared to politely rule the Waterford man out.
