Formula 1 fans think Saudi Arabia's new racetrack looks just like Mario Kart's iconic course Rainbow Road.

Luckily for Max Verstappen and co, it doesn't have quite the same horrifying loops - or the terrifying prospect of falling off the track into space that haunted our childhoods, of course.

However, if the computer-generated snaps of what the course is set to look like are anything to go off, it will surely take the crown of being the most out of this world track Formula 1 has ever seen.

Saudi Arabia's fourth F1 race will take place this weekend, with the battle set to take place on the streets of Jeddah.

But it's safe to say F1's stars can expect something totally different in years to come when they travel there.

Qiddiya's new racetrack will feature a 20-storey-high elevated first corner, known as Blade, which will be above a concert venue. There's even a swimming pool overlooking a section of track and there will also be a Six Flags theme park running alongside it.

The futuristic course is decorated with bright, colourful lights - and it's all reminded fans of one thing in particular - Nintendo's Mario Kart.

"This is so rainbow road from Mario Kart coded," one wrote on X.

A second said: "Saudi GP looks like it’s in f***** Mario Kart what in the Rainbow Road is this."

"Looks like a Mario Kart track I love it," a third added.

Meanwhile, Abdullah Aldawood, Managing Director of Qiddiya Investment Company said: "The Speed Park Track will be a true embodiment of Qiddiya's power of play philosophy and position Qiddiya City as the home of Saudi motorsport and one of the world's leading motorsport venues.

"Visitors and spectators will be treated to one of the most unique race experiences in the world with a pioneering track that will be ready to host some of the world's biggest motorsport events."

Lewis Hamilton startles reporter as he reveals he 'has a bone to pick' with him in seemingly tense interview

Just 30 miles from the capital city of Riyadh, the new circuit will be part of a wider construction project and won't be complete until at least 2027.

It remains to be seen if this new track will replace Jeddah.

However, chairman of the Saudi Automobile & Motorcycle Federation, Prince Khalid bin Sultan Al-Abdullah Al Faisal, recently stated the country would be open to hosting two races a year.

We're sure Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton didn't think racing on Mario Kart-style tracks in real life would actually happen!
