Champagne Telmont adopts “193,000 shades of green” bottles

Champagne producer Telmont has taken the next step in its ‘In the Name of Mother Nature’ project, and has adopted ‘transition glass’ produced during the change between different shades that may not match chromatic standards.

Thus far in the project, which has support from climate advocate and Telmont investor Leonardo DiCaprio, the brand has removed external packaging, stopped using air freight, and adopted a lightweight bottle, among other changes. Telmont aims to become climate positive by 2030 and net positive by 2050.

In the latest move toward climate positivity, Telmont will use “193,000 shades of green” glass, to make use of glass produced in the bottlemaking process that does not meet a standardised shade.

Ludovic du Plessis, president of Maison Telmont, said: “In 2024, Telmont reinvents green and glass! “193,000 shades of green” exemplifies our philosophy. For us, sustainability is not a limit or a constraint, but a ground for creativity and innovation. Every shade of green is a symbol of our commitment to the environment.

“We’re not just changing the colour of our bottles, we're trying to transform the wine industry, one shade at a time. In the name of Mother Nature!”
