Leslie “Gordon” Smith, 84, died on Monday, Feb. 19, 2024, at his home in Newton with his wife and brother-in-law by his side.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 14, 2024, at Meridian Baptist Church in Newton with Pastors Scott Kliewer and Caleb Wood presiding.
Memorial gifts are suggested to Meridian Baptist Church in Newton or Good Shepherd Hospice, also in Newton, in care of Jost Funeral Home at P.O. Box 266 in Hillsboro, KS 67063.
He was born on April 9, 1939, in Independence, MO. He married Ruth Ann (Schmidt) Smith on Sept. 21, 1973, in Loveland, CO.
He is survived by his wife Ruth Ann, daughter Tamara (Rick) Sevart of Kansas City, MO, son Gregory (Michelle) Asher of Southlake, TX, and Linda (Terry) Cox of Windsor, CO, twelve grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
