Stock market update: Nifty IT index falls 0.77%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index closed on a negative note on Monday.

Shares of Tech Mahindra Ltd.(up 0.6 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, MphasiS Ltd.(down 2.14 per cent), LTIMindtree Ltd.(down 1.48 per cent), Persistent Systems Ltd.(down 1.23 per cent), Infosys Ltd.(down 1.16 per cent) and L&T Technology Services Ltd.(down 1.02 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty IT index closed 0.77 per cent down at 37314.8.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 27.2 points at 22405.6, while the BSE Sensex stood up 66.14 points at 73872.29.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 24 ended in the green, while 26 closed in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, BHEL, YES Bank, SAIL and Tata Steel were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Ganges Securities, SIL Investments, Wealth First Port, GP Petroleums and DCM Nouvelle hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Lotus Eye Hosp, GPT Healthcare, Digidrive Distributo, Nandani Creation and Indiabulls Intgrtd hit their fresh 52-week lows.
