Bangladesh garment industry leader holds talks with Greek envoy

Faruque Hassan, the president of Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), alongside directors of the Giant Group, visited ambassador Aliki Koutsomitopoulou, at the Greek embassy in New Delhi recently.

The meeting aimed to explore bilateral trade and investment opportunities between Bangladesh and Greece even as the discussions centred on enhancing exports from Bangladesh to Greece, focusing on various sectors including readymade garments, leather goods, jute, ceramics and frozen food.

Faruque Hassan also emphasised the potential of tourism in strengthening cultural ties between the two nations, highlighting its significance in fostering people-to-people connections.

He urged the Greek envoy to simplify visa procedures and other travel-related processes for Bangladeshi tourists interested in visiting Greece.

In his role as the consul general of Greece to Bangladesh, Faruque sought the ambassador’s cooperation in identifying market opportunities in Greece, particularly in increasing apparel exports.

Both parties expressed optimism about further collaborations that could enhance economic partnerships between Bangladesh and Greece.
