In a scathing critique of the ruling DMK government, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Tamil Nadu President Annamalai accused the administration of resorting to outdated north-south divisive politics instead of prioritizing developmental agendas. Speaking at the third state conference of the Indhiya Jananayaka Katchi (IJK) led by the incumbent Perambalur MP T R Paarivendhar in Siruganur, Trichy, Annamalai condemned the DMK’s divisive tactics, contrasting it with the approach adopted by former Chief Minister C N Annadurai.
Annamalai highlighted the departure from divisive politics by Annadurai, emphasizing that the late leader had abandoned such outdated strategies. However, he lamented that the current Chief Minister, M.K. Stalin, had reverted to these divisive tactics, perpetuating obsolete politics that only served to sow discord. Annamalai criticized the DMK for prioritizing divisive rhetoric over focusing on developmental policies that would benefit the state.
“In Tamil Nadu, they propagate divisive politics instead of embracing developmental politics. The DMK government fails to highlight its achievements and instead chooses to vilify the Centre,” Annamalai remarked.
Meanwhile, slamming the DMK government for failing to curb rampant spread of drugs, Annamalai said that expelled DMK functionary Jaffer Sadiq, who was arrested in 2013 with 20 kg of synthetic drugs, had grown into an international criminal with his nefarious networks in New Zealand, Australia and America within 11 years due to lack of monitoring by police.
Urging Chief Minister MK Stalin, who holds home portfolio to curb such offenders, Annamalai said, “This is a systemic problem. The school education department, colleges and social welfare organisations should be coordinated and the overall fight against drug menace should be transformed into a social movement.”
