Cappadocia University (KUN), situated in Nevşehir – Ürgüp, Türkiye, collaborated with the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) to launch their Sustainable Tourism Management Graduate Program.
The course, part of the Spring semester curriculum, focused on the GSTC Criteria and spanned over three months, running from October 3rd, 2023, to January 7th, 2024. Dr. Mehmet Bahar, an Associate Professor at Cappadocia University and a certified GSTC Trainer, facilitated the online training, offering participants practical examples and invaluable insights.
“For 14 weeks, the GSTC Industry Criteria and Destination Criteria were examined in detail. Good practices were shared with the students throughout the course. Students’ understanding of the subject was reinforced with workshops organized during the course,” said Dr. Bahar.
The GSTC Sustainable Tourism Course equipped attendees with the necessary expertise to advocate for sustainable tourism practices, emphasizing the global standards outlined in the GSTC Criteria.
Through this partnership, over 200 individuals, including graduate students, have successfully completed the course at KUN, enriching their understanding of sustainable tourism.
Upon finishing the course, participants receive a certificate of completion and have the option to undertake an official exam to attain the GSTC Professional Certificate in Sustainable Tourism.
