A person rides a Lime scooter on Dec. 14 in D.C. (Craig Hudson for The Washington Post)

Regarding Michael J. Coren’s Feb. 29 Climate Coach column, “The electric scooter renaissance is here. Should you hop on, for Earth’s sake?”:

Scooters are a great innovation in urban transportation and great for the environment, but can someone please get scooter riders to obey traffic rules? It’s the Wild West on D.C. streets. People ride electric scooters on sidewalks, on streets, with traffic, against traffic, through stop signs and red lights, diagonally across intersections, between parked cars and traffic stopped at lights. And they often do so without wearing helmets. These decisions are disasters waiting to happen.
