Litchfield Jazz Camp, the teaching arm of Litchfield Jazz Festival, will present its first talent competition, the Litchfield Jazz Camp Talent Search, on Saturday.

Twenty-three finalists, ages 13 to 17, selected from a pool of applicants on the basis of taped auditions, will compete live for scholarships to the renowned summer music camp.

The Litchfield Jazz Camp Talent Search finals will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. at Litchfield Community Center, 421 Bantam Road, Litchfield.

The public is invited. Admission is free, but reservations are needed by visiting LJCTalentSearch.eventbrite.com. Admission at the door is provided only if there is space available.

Finalists, playing a variety of instruments, will be accompanied by a professional jazz trio including pianist Zaccai Curtis, bassist Conway Campbell and drummer Ian Carroll. The trio are all members of the jazz camp’s teaching faculty.

The panel of adjudicators selecting the winners includes Kris Allen, the Lyell B. Clay Artist-In-Residence in Jazz at Williams College and long-time faculty member at Litchfield Jazz Camp; Albert Rivera, adjunct professor, SUNY Purchase College and operations director of Litchfield Jazz Camp and Vita Muir, executive/artistic director and founder, Litchfield Performing Arts and Litchfield Jazz.

At the conclusion of performances, adjudicators will retire briefly to select the winners.

Winners will be announced promptly and awards presented that evening.
