An 18-3 opening quarter set the tone.

From there, 5-seed Ben L. Smith continued the momentum to earn its 15th consecutive win, and advance to the second round of the state playoffs with a 56-26 win over Central Davidson.

Azahreya Drayton-Gill and Morgan Smith combined to pour in 16 first quarter points.

Raegan McCarn’s second quarter three was one of only two first half field goals for the Spartans.

The Eagles took a 27-7 lead into the halftime break.

Six different players scored in the third to help inflate the lead to 41-11.

In the fourth, London Haith canned a pair of three’s and Leanna Maffett poured in seven points to secure the victory.

The win sets up a big second round matchup with #12 Jay M. Robinson who knocked off #21 North Buncombe 55-46.
