Rock and Roll royalty and the NTT IndyCar Series’ biggest rock and roll fan will unite for the first race of the season as Michael Shank and his Meyer Shank Racing squad will welcome Jon Bon Jovi to the team for the St. Petersburg Grand Prix weekend and feature the new SiriusXM Bon Jovi Radio channel on the sidepods of Felix Rosenqvist’s No. 60 Honda.
The opportunity was developed through Shank’s fellow co-owner Jim Meyer, the former CEO of the satellite and streaming radio service.
“SiriusXM has an amazing network of talent and it is so cool to get to collaborate with them for programs like this with Bon Jovi,” Meyer said. “It’s best of both worlds for everyone, with these artists getting exposed to IndyCar in a big way while also helping to raise the profile of these events with their fan bases.
“Not only that, but we have been able to adapt our liveries to showcase each of these artist’s own SiriusXM channels. Having Jon Bon Jovi in St. Pete is great exposure for SiriusXM and for the series as well. We’re really hoping that this is just the start of what we can do with SiriusXM for this season.”
MSR’s four-time Indianapolis 500 winner and team stakeholder Helio Castroneves will bring the Grammy winner and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee into his world prior to the race when Bon Jovi straps into the IndyCar two-seater to lead the field prior to the start of the Firestone Grand Prix.
“Jon is set for an electrifying and sensational experience in the ‘Fastest Seat in Sports’ as he welcomes a global audience to the new NTT IndyCar Series season,” said IndyCar CEO Mark Miles. “This is a terrific collaboration between SiriusXM and Meyer Shank Racing, and an example of partnership activation that shines a spotlight across the whole sport.”
The Bon Jovi Radio relationship will continue into the second event on the IndyCar calendar as well on the No. 60 Honda when the series heads west to California’s all-star event at The Thermal Club.
