It was a dream weekend for Steamboat Springs’ Jett Seymour and Erik Belshaw, who each earned top 15 finishes in World Cup events this weekend for Alpine and ski jumping, respectively.

At the Stifel Palisades Tahoe Cup on Sunday, Seymour was the lone American skier on the slalom course to qualify for a second run, taking 23rd in his opening run.

On run two, Seymour had the sixth fastest overall time of 49.28 seconds to bump him up to 15th in the competition with a combined time of 1:43.61. This was the best World Cup finish of Seymour’s season.

His efforts earned him the Stifel Bibbo Award — a cash prize given to the Alpine skier who rises the most places from their bib number in the competition. Seymour finished 24 position places above his bib number of 39.

Seymour and the other American men on the Alpine ski team will next take on the Stifel Aspen Winternational races from March 1-3.

While Seymour was racing down the mountainside in Tahoe, Belshaw was jumping through the skies of Germany in Oberstdorf. He helped the American team take seventh in the Super Team HS235 World Cup on Friday, totalling 777.1 meters of flight between himself and teammate Tate Frantz in two jumps apiece.

In Saturday’s individual event, Belshaw would earn his first-ever World Cup top 20 finish by jumping 212 and 219.5 meters to take 18th.

Sunday proved to be even greater for Belshaw, who leaped 216.5 and 219 meters in his jumps to place 12th overall. This was the first individual top 15 finish for the U.S. Men’s Ski Jumping Team since 2017 when Kevin Bickner took 15th in Vikersund, Norway.
