Rocky Lewis has resigned as the head football coach at South Brunswick High School in Southport. He is still currently teaching at the school.

Lewis had been serving as the head coach since 2016. Prior to his time at South Brunswick, Lewis was the head coach at East Columbus for two years.

He also was an assistant coach at Appalachian State University, Chowan University, East Carolina University, and NC A&T University during an earlier time in his career.

Lewis is the son of legendary North Carolina high school football coach Bob Lewis, who posted a career record of 322-146-6 and won four state championships at Clinton High as well as one at East Bladen High and Harrells Christian Academy.

In 2021, Rocky helped South Brunswick to its first winning season and first playoff appearance since 2011. Over his eight seasons, South Brunswick went 29-54 overall.

At East Columbus, Lewis’ teams went 1-21. He was also the school’s athletic director and helped complete a number of key facilities projects. East Columbus is still looking for its first winning season since 2012.

Multiple independent sources have indicated to HighSchoolOT that Lewis could land another head coaching job in Eastern North Carolina this offseason. As of now, he is teaching at South Brunswick.
