SNAPSHOT: Students put another brick in foundation of skills they can offer as professionals

With bricklayers in high demand in the United States and beyond, an area trade school collaborated with Capital Region BOCES this month to bring a new skill set to area high school students. The Upstate Masonry Institute (UMI) partnered with the Bricklayer & Allied Craftworkers (BAC) Local 2 Union to teach students the art of bricklaying. The training earlier this month was part of the month-long BOCES celebration of Career and Technical Education Month, which is a time when school districts across the country celebrate programs designed to prepare students for the workforce or to further their education.
