Stock market update: Nifty IT index advances 0.72%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index closed on a positive note on Tuesday.

Shares of Tata Consultancy Services Ltd.(up 2.59 per cent), Persistent Systems Ltd.(up 1.11 per cent), HCL Technologies Ltd.(up 0.55 per cent), MphasiS Ltd.(up 0.45 per cent) and Infosys Ltd.(up 0.21 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, L&T Technology Services Ltd.(down 0.7 per cent), Coforge Ltd.(down 0.49 per cent), LTIMindtree Ltd.(down 0.43 per cent), Wipro Ltd.(down 0.28 per cent) and Tech Mahindra Ltd.(down 0.17 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty IT index closed 0.72 per cent up at 37870.25.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 76.3 points at 22198.35, while the BSE Sensex stood up 305.09 points at 73095.22.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 30 ended in the green, while 20 closed in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Indian Renewable, Easy Trip Planners and South Indian Bnk were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Umang Dairies, Vaswani Ind, AksharChem Ltd, T T Ltd and Moksh Ornaments Ltd. hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Vibhor Steel Tubes, Euro India Fresh, TCI Express, Sharda Cropchem and Future Supply Chain hit their fresh 52-week lows.
