Stock market update: Power stocks down as market rises

NEW DELHI: Power shares closed higher in the Tuesday's session.

KEC International Ltd.(up 3.96%), KKV Agro Powers Ltd.(up 3.43%), Torrent Power Ltd.(up 3.15%), Suzlon Energy Ltd.(up 1.83%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd.(up 1.64%), SJVN Ltd.(up 1.63%), CESC Ltd.(up 1.05%), Inox Wind Energy Ltd.(up 0.84%), Adani Green Energy Ltd.(up 0.46%) and Jyoti Structures Ltd.(up 0.38%) stood among the top gainers.

India Power Corporation Ltd.(down 4.84%), Power and Instrumentation(Gujarat)Ltd.(down 4.68%), Adani Energy Solutions Ltd.(down 4.55%), Jaiprakash Power Ventures Ltd.(down 4.20%), Voltamp Transformers Ltd.(down 3.95%), GE Power India Ltd.(down 2.82%), Reliance Power Ltd.(down 2.38%), Orient Green Power Company Ltd.(down 2.36%), PTC India Ltd.(down 2.25%) and NHPC Ltd.(down 2.17%) were among the top losers of the day.

The NSE Nifty50 index ended 76.3 points up at 22198.35, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed up 305.09 points at 73095.22.

Tata Motors Ltd.(up 2.75%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd.(up 2.59%), IndusInd Bank Ltd.(up 1.82%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd.(up 1.66%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd.(up 1.64%), Bharti Airtel Ltd.(up 1.58%), JSW Steel Ltd.(up 1.27%), Eicher Motors Ltd.(up 1.26%), Cipla Ltd.(up 1.2%) and Tata Steel Ltd.(up 1.09%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Hero MotoCorp Ltd.(down 1.47%), Bajaj Finance Ltd.(down 1.31%), State Bank of India(down 1.2%), Divi's Laboratories Ltd.(down 1.05%), UPL Ltd.(down 0.94%), Bajaj Finserv Ltd.(down 0.85%), Adani Enterprises Ltd.(down 0.77%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd.(down 0.66%), Axis Bank Ltd.(down 0.57%) and NTPC Ltd.(down 0.45%) closed in the red.
