Liverpool's relentless pursuit of an unprecedented quadruple will continue in their FA Cup fifth round clash against Southampton this week.

The Reds return to Merseyside with the Carabao Cup trophy in tow following a dramatic extra-time triumph over Chelsea on Sunday.

A thread-bare Liverpool squad claimed victory through Virgil van Dijk in the 117th minute.

Jurgen Klopp's celebrations were short-lived with his squad switching focus back to the FA Cup, which the club last lifted in 2022.

As for Southampton, they are bidding to bounce back from a surprise 2-1 defeat to Millwall in the Championship last time out.

The former Premier League outfit have progressed from three of their last four FA Cup fifth-round ties, but have lost their last six away games against Liverpool.

Liverpool vs Southampton: Kids are alright

Klopp fielded a number of academy starlets including James McConnell, Jayden Danns and Bobby Clark at Wembley.

The trio are now all in line to feature once again, alongside established youngsters Conor Bradley and Harvey Elliott.

In the last round, McConnell made his first Reds start to become one of 93 different players to appear in the FA Cup under Klopp.

That list could be extended by two more due to Liverpool's injuries, with both Lewis Koumas and Trey Nyoni unused subs at Wembley.
