Stock market update: Nifty Auto index advances 0.1%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index closed on a positive note on Monday.

Shares of Bharat Forge Ltd.(up 3.85 per cent), Sona BLW Precision Forgings Ltd.(up 2.29 per cent), TVS Motor Company Ltd.(up 2.19 per cent), Bosch Ltd.(up 1.75 per cent) and Eicher Motors Ltd.(up 0.66 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Balkrishna Industries Ltd.(down 1.86 per cent), MRF Ltd.(down 1.56 per cent), Tube Investments of India Ltd.(down 1.41 per cent), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd.(down 0.6 per cent) and Hero MotoCorp Ltd.(down 0.52 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty Auto index closed 0.1 per cent up at 20642.4.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 90.66 points at 22122.05, while the BSE Sensex stood down 352.67 points at 72790.13.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 14 ended in the green, while 36 closed in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Jio Financial Servic, NHPC and Infibeam Avenues were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Moksh Ornaments Ltd., AVG Logistics, Zaggle Prepaid Ocean, Salzer Electro and SML Isuzu hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Rajshree Polypack, Vibhor Steel Tubes, Entero Healthcare So, Orient Refractories and Euro India Fresh hit their fresh 52-week lows.
