Missing 8-day-old baby from Chapel Hill found safe in Durham
Authorities say they found a missing 8-day-old baby after an Amber Alert was issued for the child.
Authorities issued an Amber Alert for Jaxton Brown around 7 p.m. Monday night and located him in Durham around 8:45 p.m.
Investigators with the Chapel Hill Police Department believed Brown was in danger when the alert went out.

Chapel Hill police said the boy was last seen with his parents, Destinee Ariel Cothran and Justin Lee Brown.
Cothran, 26, of Garner, is about 5 feet, 3 inches tall and weighs about 120 pounds. She has brown hair and hazel eyes.

Justin Lee Brown, 29, of Durham, is 5 feet, 8 inches tall and weighs about 160 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes.

It is unclear if Justin Lee Brown or Cothran were with the baby when authorities found him.
Authorities believed the baby and couple were traveling in a white 1997 Mercury Mystique. Authorities said there are two possible tags: 031724 or 29279542.
Both tag numbers listed for the Mystique are temporary, paper tags, authorities said.

Authorities said the missing boy, Cothran and Brown were last seen at 5623 Durham-Chapel Hill Blvd. in Durham on Friday. The address is where the Chapel HIll- Durham Red Roof Inn is located. Hotel employees declined an interview request with WRAL News on Monday.
