Panaji: The digital initiative of the Corlim primary health centre (PHC) has been awarded the ‘Best Rural Healthcare Project’ by Transforming Healthcare with Information Technology (THIT).

Right from the process of patient registration to maintaining their health records is carried out digitally at the health centre.

Transforming Healthcare with IT (information technology) or THIT is the largest healthcare and IT-based international conference and trade show in India, organised by Apollo Telemedicine Networking Foundation annually. The 11th edition of THIT was held in Bengaluru on February 23-24.

“THIT had invited applications from various sectors of the society for submission of  innovative projects.

The projects needed to have a lasting impact on the healthcare services provided to people at the grassroots level. Citing the opportunity, the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) cell, Goa submitted a detailed report on digital health implementation at Corlim PHC under the Rural Healthcare Project category,” said Dr Kedar Raikar, state nodal officer, ABDM.

To increase the effectiveness and reach of the digital initiative pan-India, the ABDM cell, Goa shot a live video showing the end-to-end digital implementation at the Corlim PHC and shared it with the National Health Authority (NHA), Dr Raikar said. He said the video was also shared with THIT.

“During the award presentation ceremony, the selection committee made a special mention of the achievements of the ABDM Goa team and commended the efforts put in by Goa in the healthcare domain,” said Dr Raikar.

Congratulating the team, Health Minister Vishwajit Rane, in a social media post, said, “Congratulations to the Goa State ABDM team on their remarkable achievement. This accolade not only honours their efforts but also serves as a beacon of hope for rural healthcare nationwide.”

“The Corlim PHC’s innovative approach to healthcare, seamlessly integrating digitisation with ABHA, sets a new standard in the field. From streamlined registration processes to efficient treatment delivery, this initiative showcases the transformative power of technology and dedication to ensuring quality healthcare for all. It serves as a testament to our evolving healthcare landscape and bridges the gap to make healthcare accessible to every corner of the nation,” said Rane.
