Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index falls 0.48%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index closed on a negative note on Monday.

Shares of Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Ltd.(up 3.07 per cent), Zydus Lifesciences Ltd.(up 2.1 per cent), Granules India Ltd.(up 0.72 per cent), Cipla Ltd.(up 0.24 per cent) and GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals Ltd.(up 0.06 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Alkem Laboratories Ltd.(down 6.63 per cent), Divi's Laboratories Ltd.(down 1.94 per cent), Gland Pharma Ltd.(down 1.64 per cent), Pfizer Ltd.(down 1.32 per cent) and Sanofi India Ltd.(down 1.02 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty Pharma index closed 0.48 per cent down at 18956.45.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 90.66 points at 22122.05, while the BSE Sensex stood down 352.67 points at 72790.13.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 14 ended in the green, while 36 closed in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Jio Financial Servic, NHPC and Infibeam Avenues were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Moksh Ornaments Ltd., AVG Logistics, Zaggle Prepaid Ocean, Salzer Electro and SML Isuzu hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Rajshree Polypack, Vibhor Steel Tubes, Entero Healthcare So, Orient Refractories and Euro India Fresh hit their fresh 52-week lows.
