The Aditya Suhas Jambhale-helmed action-political thriller film Article 370, starring Yami Gautam, has been banned in Gulf countries. The film was released in the theaters on February 23, 2024.

Article 370 was successful in the domestic and overseas box office, but its overall collection might be impacted as the Gulf countries are a major market for Indian films. According to reports, Shah Rukh Khan’s blockbuster films Pathan and Jawan were able to cross the Rs 1000 crore mark due to their extensive release in the Gulf countries.

In a statement, the makers of the film expressed surprise at the ban, especially since the Gulf region has a thriving tourism industry and Indian movies are being filmed there.

The statement further added that the lack of Indian films in the region’s theaters, despite Bollywood’s contribution to the Gulf’s entertainment industry, is noteworthy. They further said that while Indian cinema enjoys a dedicated fanbase in the region, the absence of films like Article 370 highlights a concerning trend towards censorship and limited cultural exchange.

In the film, Yami Gautam can be seen playing the role of NIA officer Zooni Haksar, who is known for her honest work. The strory of the film revolves around the removal of special status to Jammu and Kashmir under Article 370.

The film, directed by Aditya Suhas Jambhale, also stars Priyamani, Arun Givil, and Kiran Karmarkar in key roles.

During a recent speech in Jammu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi mentioned about the film Article 370. He said this movie will provide correct information to the people.

Yami Gautam responded to PM Narendra Modi’s speech on Instagram and expressed her gratitude for being able to witness his conversation about the film. She also mentioned that she and her team are committed to delivering a cinematic experience that surpasses PM’s expectations and brings this incredible story to life on the big screen.

Earlier, Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone’s action thriller film Fighter’s release was denied in Gulf countries except the UAE.
