Liverpool fans were left in tears after watching Darwin Nunez celebrate winning the Carabao Cup - despite being injured.

Virgil van Dijk's header in the 117th minute gave Liverpool a dramatic victory over Chelsea in the Carabao Cup final, giving them a first trophy this season en route to a potential quadruple.

And among the celebrations was the crocked Nunez, who missed out on the squad on Sunday due to injury.

The Uruguay international was still in the stands with the rest of his teammates, including fellow injury list absentees Mohamed Salah, Dominik Szoboszlai and Curtis Jones.

As Van Dijk's header flew past Dorde Petrovic to break the deadlock, Nunez was off down the stairs, racing past his Liverpool pals and onto the pitch.

That even included jumping over a gate and the advertising boards, fist-pumping and dancing with the rest of the Reds bench, including Jurgen Klopp.

Considering that the 24-year-old had been sidelined with injury, it was quite the sight for fans who were not ready to see the striker so animated.

One fan replied: "Looks fit to start on Wednesday [against Southampton]."

Another said: "Someone hold onto the one leg man."

A third wrote: "Nunez is all of us."
