Harris, Trump, Haley to visit North Carolina ahead of March 5 primary
As North Carolina voters prepare to cast their ballots in March 5th primary elections, top candidates will be appearing across the state.
Vice President Kamala Harris will visit Durham on Friday, while Republican front-runner and former President Donald Trump will visit Greensboro on Saturday. GOP candidate Nikki Haley will be in Charlotte on Friday and Raleigh on Saturday.
Harris will be in the Bull City to discuss economic opportunity, small business and building a strong economy. It will be her 10th visit to the state since becoming vice president in 2021.
President Joe Biden recently made a visit to the Triangle as well. The Biden-Harris campaign has made North Carolina a target in the general election. Harris is scheduled to be joined by Gov. Roy Cooper and Deputy Secretary of the Treasury Wally Adeyemo.
On Saturday, Trump will deliver remarks at a rally at the Greensboro Coliseum Complex. Doors will open at 11 a.m., and Trump is scheduled to speak around 2 p.m.
Haley, the former governor of South Carolina and former U.N. Ambassador, is scheduled to appear Friday night at Norfolk Hall at Suffolk Punch in Charlotte. Haley is scheduled for a rally at Clouds Brewing Tap Room at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. She is scheduled for a rally in Massachusetts on Saturday night.
Trump has won contests in Iowa, New Hampshire and, on Saturday, South Carolina, Haley's home state. But Haley said the large percentage of voters who are not choosing Trump deserve a choice and vowed to remain in the race.
North Carolina is one of 15 states that holds its primary on March 5, known as Super Tuesday.
North Carolina hasn't voted for a Democratic presidential ticket since Barack Obama and Biden in 2008. Trump carried the state in 2016 and 2020.
Biden visited Raleigh in January and included a visit with a Raleigh family over Cook Out burgers.
Harris was in Charlotte in January. She visited a school to announce funding from the bipartisan Safer Communities Act to help schools hire and train mental health counselors.
Early voting is already underway in North Carolina. The primary election date is March 5.
