TORRINGTON – Roland Berube Sr., 76, of Torrington, passed away peacefully Feb. 23, 2024, at his home, surrounded by his family, after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. He was the husband of Nancy Bochicchio Berube.

Born in Waterbury Sept. 11, 1947, son of the late Joseph and Margaret Heacox Berube, he served in the U.S. Army. He was a longtime employee of Somer Thin Strip in Waterbury.

He enjoyed photography, and computer technology, and was an amateur ham radio operator. An avid guitar player, he was a member of the former “Sweet Smoke” band.

In addition to his wife, he leaves daughters Jessica Conti and Jennifer DallaValle; and sons Roland Berube Jr. and Jeffrey Berube. He also leaves grandchildren Kayla Conti and Corey Davis, Cody and Ryan DallaValle, Lola Berube and Rosemary Brazie; and great-granddaughter Stephanie DallaValle; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his son-in-law Mark DallaValle; his brother Joseph Berube; and sisters Lucienne Martin and Pauline Pelletier.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, Feb. 29, at Phalen Funeral Home, 285 Migeon Ave., from 5 to 7 p.m. with a veteran’s service at 7 p.m. phalenfuneral.com.
