The Little Rock Police Department is investigating two homicides that occurred on West 24th Street on Feb. 21 — the sixth and seventh in Little Rock in 2024.

Officers responded to a shots fired call just after midnight on Feb. 21 at 4209 W. 24th St., where they found 63-year-old Nicky Lamar dead from gunshot wounds. When the LRPD first reported the death on Feb. 21, the department noted another man from the same shooting was taken to a hospital in critical condition.

That person, later identified as 39-year-old Lavor White, died at the hospital several hours later.

Though two people died, the police initially did not refer to the situation as a double homicide, because one of the gunshot victims died later. The victims in this shooting were also the suspects. LRPD spokesperson Mark Edwards said one person was thought to have been acting out of self defense.

The investigation is still underway. If it is determined that one of the shooters acted out of self defense, the death would still be a homicide but the case would be considered closed, Edwards said.
