IND vs ENG Live Score Updates, 4th Test Day 4: IND 112/3, needs 80 runs to win; Gill, Jadeja recalibrate innings

Bashir to continue. Gill waits for this delivery outside off and then dabs at it to beat the slip fielder and pick three. NEARLY! Jadeja gets his stride out to defend a good length delivery but it turns sharply. It’s just about enough to beat the edge. Two more singles from the over.

Gill to face Hartley. He clips the fourth ball through mid wicket to pocket a single. That’s the only run from the over.

Bashir to Jadeja. The bowler persists with the line outside the off stump, and the ball shoots off on a couple of occassion, beating Jadeja’s outside edge. A maiden over.

Gill against Hartley. A quick single to mid on for Gill off the third delivery. Four byes as Hartley hits a crack and the turn takes the ball way down leg side. Ravindra Jadeja swipes the final delivery to deep mid wicket to get off the mark.

Gill uses his feet to drive the first ball from Bashir down to long off. 100 up for India. WICKET! Caught at short leg. The ball springs up from a length and takes the inside edge. Ollie Pope with a brilliant diving catch. England is right back in the contest.

WICKET! Hartley gets Rohit. The Indian captain tries to walk out to get to the pitch, as he as done so often this morning. But Hartley cleverly pulls his length back, and extracts turn too. This takes the ball away from Rohit and Ben Foakes does the rest behind the stumps.

Bashir to Gill. Appeal for leg before. Gill attempts a sweep at a delivery spins and keeps low. But the umpire denies, considering the ball squared up a little too much. One leg bye for Gill. Rohit walks out to get to the pitch and push the ball to long on for a single.

Hartley to continue. Rohit cuts the second delivery to deep cover for one run. Gill gets to the pitch of the last ball and sends it towards long on for the second run from the over.

Gill on strike against Bashir. Gill steps out and hits with power down through mid off. Dom Lawrence misfields which allows the batters to run one. Rohit clips the fifth delivery to backward square leg for another run.

Gill is taking his time here. India now needs less than 100 runs to win. 

Only one over from Root and Hartley is back. Rohit cuts, takes a double, and gets to his fifty in 69 balls. Three runs off the over. 

Change of ends for Bashir. Interesting Gill used his feet right from the ball one and Rohit too has been very keen on coming down the track to play the ball. 

Now Joe Root into the attack, replacing Bashir. OUT! Jaiswal is gone. He looked to play an inside out off the fuller ball, gets a thick outside edge and Anderson grabs a great diving catch at backward point.

Gill takes a single on the second ball. 

Hartley continues. First ball that kept low today. Rohit plays it safely. Just a single in that over. 

The first 30 minutes hasn’t seen the ball misbehave much. Runs are coming and the batters have been in control for the most part. Jaiswal sweeps Bashir very fine and gets another boundary. Wasn’t in full control of that shot though. Now Jaiswal gets some width and he cuts it past point for four. 

Tom Hartley replaces Anderson. An appeal by England against Jaiswal for LBW. Jaiswal came down the track and the ball spun into him. Umpire thinks he come forward too much. England has reviewed. There’s a faint inside edge and the decision stays. Jaiswal takes out his reverse sweep two balls later and gets a boundary! 

Rohit takes out his sweep against Bashir and gets a boundary! Hit in the air and with perfection.

A very quick call by Jaiswal from the non-strikers’ end and Rohit responds very to the call. He’s safe though. Plenty of single taking opportunities on offer in this over. Five runs off the over. 

Rohit Sharma completed his 9000 First Class runs during the over.

Bashir induces a thick outside edge off Jaiswal’s bat which goes past first slip. Anderson gives it a chase but can’t stop it. Four runs. 

Just a hint of swing since the ball is still 10 overs new. SIX! Rohit gets one in his arc, swinging into him and he picks it up towards midwicket for a maximum. 

Shoaib Bashir from the other end. He will have a long day today. Attacking the stumps right from the start. Rohit tucks one away towards fine leg and batters run three. 

James Anderson to start the proceedings. Rohit Sharma defends the first ball. Plenty of cracks on the pitch but the first five balls have come on nicely onto the bat. A maiden. 

England team in a huddle. The visitors need 10 wickets. India needs 152 runs more to win. An exciting day ahead. 

It looks awful. The cracks are bigger and it is quite abrasive. But it has played better. England needs to hit these cracks consistently. But the middle part of the pitch is still good and the ball is not misbehaving.

The Indian spin trio of R. Ashwin, Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja took all 10 wickets for England as the visiting side rounded up its second innings within 150 runs.
