Simon Stephens is one of the UK’s most celebrated playwrights. His adaptation of ‘The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time’ won seven Olivier awards. Now 53, he lives in East London with his wife and two of his three children.

​Last Sunday was quite an unusual one, for a couple of reasons. My wife and daughter were on ­holiday. I live in the East End of London with my wife and daughter and my eldest son. My middle son is at university.
